Tehran Says It Could Resume American Nuclear Negotiations if Approached with 'Dignity' and 'Respect'

Iran is ready to restart atomic discussions with Washington as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

The Iranian diplomat stated exclusively dialogue produced results, and revealed new appeals had been made by intermediaries to reopen discussions with the US government. He asserted Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran could not yet permit the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit struck enrichment centers for protective measures.

Navigating a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is treading a challenging path since Iran wishes not to be seen to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and mentally from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was speaking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to process nuclear material within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the impasse in the previous talks.

Prior Discussions Unexpectedly Concluded

The earlier sessions of negotiations between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that ended with Donald Trump asserting the locations had been destroyed. Following this, EU nations exercised their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iran's diplomats said they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an local partnership with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have continued and the US could be certain that Iran's atomic project was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the negotiations that Washington's technical specialists could work on Iranian soil, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Diplomats claimed three times they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the deal to fall apart due to "detractors in America".

Existing Position

Iran's diplomats stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the proposal could be revived in some form if negotiations resume.

The US president last week claimed he had been obtaining communications that Iran wanted to restart talks, but in private Tehran representatives state they are not yet receiving consistent overtures from America either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been accused of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran says negotiations is not part of a show.

Diplomatic Stance

In his remarks to the gathering, aimed to paint the US as a hegemonic power that exploits the notion of worldwide standards, the foreign minister stated the fortnight-long engagement demonstrated the conflict could not be ended by combat operations. He asserted the strikes commenced with a American requirement for an total Iran submission and culminated with an unconditional call for a truce.

Iran is convinced the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were mounted with full US knowledge and cooperation, making confidence hard to restore.

Dialogue Remains the Ultimate Resolution

Araghchi said: "It was not Iran that had fled diplomacy; it was America and the European states that had repeatedly attempted to dictate their will during the discussions. Diplomacy can still be viable and continues the primary solution to resolve disputes, but its requirements, regulations and tenets must be followed."

"In case they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the language of respect and honor, they will obtain a answer in the same tone."

Recovery and Reconstruction

In what is described by Iranian officials as the battle of recovery and rebuilding, the foreign minister claimed he was confident Iran's defence capabilities "are much stronger than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We learned many lessons from this engagement; we have discovered our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the opponent."

He stated: "We successfully passed this war. Our atomic expertise, which they intended to destroy, stays intact. The sites and machinery, if destroyed, will be restored; what is essential is the determination of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they aimed at, but failed to break. The Iranian people have developed stronger, more cohesive, and more backing of the leadership and the nation in the face of this attack."
